Project 365 – # 155 – Rotary Young Photographer Awards
So today, I went over to Melton Mowbray for the District Rotary Young Writers and Photographers Awards. They’d asked us to bring our cameras and get some shots of the events, to then be told that only the official photographer could take any, or parents. So after that song and I dance, I was rather annoyed, but either way, it was a good day out, as we were treated to the regional finals of Young Musician of the Year too!
Anyway, as I’ve previously mentioned in an earlier post, I was awarded 2nd Prize for my collection of four photographs around the theme “The Olympic Spirit” which you can see here, 1, 2, 3 and 4. Whilst in addition, I was awarded the David Green Trophy for Best Individual Photograph, or Young Photographer of the Year for our District, for this shot. Squeee!!
The trophy in itself is exceedingly cool! They’d had problems last year as the trophy went missing and was never returned, so they had to make a whole new one, but I’m glad they did! It’s gorgeous and so clever. An old, film camera, mounted up as a trophy! I love it so much, I started taking shots of it – haha!
Oh, and cue cheesy shot of me with the trophy! It’s a miracle I look half decent!

congratulations and well deserved
Thank you
Ha! Congrats Becky. No doubt you deserve it.
Thanks!
Congrats, Becky! Love the trophy! Have they put an electronic tracker on it this year?
Cheers
John
Haha – nope. Though some old dear came up to me and said ” We know where you live”…kind creepy actually!
