2012 Review – Favourite shot of the Year – Part Two
Favourite Shot #4
After finishing my exams, I had my first paid photoshoot which was amazing! I had so much fun, spending the day with Angharad and her horse Indie – the connection between the pair of them is magical and it was a dream to photograph.
Favourite Shot #5
With the Olympics being in London, it was almost sacrilegious that I got so few shots of the events I went to ( stupid mess-up over whether DSLRs were allowed in the stadium -duh!) Anyway, I was fortunate enough to have the cycle road race go straight past my house, so was able to take great advantage of the proximity – I think I even have a blurry shot of Bradley Wiggins somewhere…
Favourite Shot #6
2012 saw an enormous change for me in that I went off to university! A change of places, people, atmosphere was rather daunting but also rather exciting, and I personally think I’ve taken to it like a fish to water! Especially photographically – that is to say, I’ve jumped on every possible wagon whereby I can try and get my photography involved! One of these is photographing for the online student magazine! The photograph above is from the Bat for Lashes gig in Bristol, before my commission, but it’s my first gig in Bristol!
Favourite Shot #7
One of the highlights of my year must have been the Olympic Hyde Park gig – whereby I was on the front row and I was allowed to snap away with my Nikon. THe lighting arrays and visuals are so different when the gig is outside and that was interesting in itself! However, the music was brilliant too ( bar Duran Duran – they’re a bit of a Paul McCartney case too) and mixed with the atmosphere – all worth nearly missing my train for!
Favourite Shot #8
Ok, this shot is in this list simply because Patrick Wolf is on my “Bucket-List” of artists I want to photograph – and it was amazing, if a little difficult to photograph him in such an intimate venue. As the last gig of 2012, it went out with a bang!
I’ve already started thinking about 2013 photography-wise : I have lots of ideas, and lots of gigs to apply for, oh and that wedding in September! I can’t wait!
